ASA'S THE PEOPLES FAVORITE!

A STANDING OVATION FOR BRAVE ASA.
The tremendous courage and bravery of Asa Singleton shone through at an awards evening where he received a standing ovation when he went up to receive The Peoples Person of The Year award 2007.
Asa touched the hearts of all those present when he spoke of how he tried to live life to the full despite his illness.
The 16yr old also received a standing ovation when he was led to the stage to receive the Courageous Child Award.

' I was shocked to win that award, let alone to win the top award later on' said Asa.

The awards , organised by Isle of Wight Radio included 10 main awards, as well as the People Persons Award.
IW Radio listeners nominated people they felt were deserving of thanks and recognition in the various catagories.

In announcing Asa's award, IW Radio controller Andy Shire said that despite his condition Asa had maintained a cheerful and positive attitude to life.
' he is always caring towards others and is determined to live life to the full as much as he can' said Andy.

Asa surprised everyone when he received his award by taking the microphone to say a few words of his own.
He brought tears to many eyes when he said:
' Although i have this disease. I do not let it get me down. I try to live my life to the full everyday.'

' I have some great friends and a loving, caring and supporting family who I love very dearly,' said Asa.
